Sundays are my nonnegotiable day. One of my main boundaries is dedicating Sundays to myself and self-care. Sundays are my reset and recharge days. I work out, meal prep for the week, clean my home, and focus on self-care. It is so crucial to dedicate time for yourself, especially as young adults balancing busy work and life schedules. Setting the tone for your Sunday sets you up for success. We often dedicate whole days to others, such as going out, attending parties, or spending time with family. Having one day each week to focus on your duties and needs at your own pace is so rewarding. Don’t forget to give yourself grace if not every Sunday is perfect, or if you feel like you didn’t accomplish a lot. You are doing the best you can. As long as you prioritize yourself, that’s all that matters.
Morning: Setting the Tone
I start by getting into a cute workout set and doing my morning skincare routine. I head to the kitchen to take my detox juices, vitamins, and pre-workout. Then, I set up my room for my workout. I make sure all my equipment is laid out in front of me so I have a good workout flow. After my workout, I follow up with a shower. I love setting the tone by getting my workout and shower in early to boost my mood and energy for the day. After that, I make myself a high-protein breakfast to start the day off right.
Afternoon: Set Up for Success
After breakfast, I make a list for Trader Joe’s of what I need to meal prep for the week, as well as what my husband needs. I usually hurry home from Trader Joe’s and start meal prepping. I love setting myself up for success for the week by meal prepping—it’s not only time-saving but also cost-effective. After cooking, I clean my space by sweeping, mopping, and wiping down all surfaces. This is also the time when I tackle any cleaning projects, like organizing my closet, cleaning my shoes, or tidying up my desk. Cleaning my space helps me feel mentally and physically clear as well.
Evening: Reset & Renewal
As the night slowly approaches, I make sure to pick out my work outfit to make my morning easier. I pack my work lunch with all the snacks and vitamins I’ll need. I take my magnesium at night and make myself some calming tea to help my body unwind. Sundays are also the days I love to do my at-home facial. I follow my night skincare routine, do a facial steam, and apply a mask depending on what my skin needs that week. I make sure my room lights are dimmed, and my candles are on. I truly believe in the power of setting the tone for your night in your room.
Prioritizing Sundays for self-care and for weekly success will make you feel 100% better about your upcoming week. It will also help you navigate whatever life throws at you during your week or if you want to spontaneously go out throughout the week with no worries. Create your own Sunday routine that works best for you and your goals for the week. I would love for you to share your own Sunday routine and your thoughts on the importance of the day for yourself.
