  • Entering My Winter Arc

Just as the earth enters a quiet period of rest in the winter, I am trying to take advantage of everyone being silent and still to work on myself. It may sound late that I am joining the winter arc now, but technically winter starts December 20 and ends March 20, so we are still in the clear. A winter arc is to use the winter season to work towards physical and mental health. It is a challenge based on the idea that winter can be a time for growth and positive change, rather than being in hibernation with the season as well. It is important to take time for yourself to reset, refocus, and prepare for future growth. Winter isn’t just about being still and stagnant; it is about slowing down and replenishing our inner selves. This is a great period of reflection and creating space for deeper insight. Although it is so freezing you might not be in the mood to do anything, it is good to remember to follow your goal, not your mood, this season. You are preparing for spring and future seasons of action. Winter Arc Rules • No phone after 10pm (8hr sleep) • ½ -1 gallon of water daily • 30-45 min workout (strength training or 12.3.30) • 10k steps daily • Journal prompt daily • Read + pray devotionals every night My main focuses during my winter arc are health, mental clarity, and faith. The list I designed is meant to fit my lifestyle and goals. I wanted to keep my goals simple and realistic. For me personally, I needed to get back to basics and start from there. In order to reach future goals for myself, I have to start with smaller daily habits to make a change. The overall theme of my winter arc is staying locked in. I want to discipline my mind and body. I created a weekly check-in to help me stay on track. It makes me want to do better every day. Taking it day by day is helping me build inner strength and practice patience with myself. I can’t wait to see how these daily habits transform my life! I would love to hear and share if you are partaking in a winter arc challenge this year. What are your goals? What motivates you? And how can we help each other stay consistent? Comment or message me!

  • At Home Facial Routine

At-home facials are the best way you can rejuvenate your skin and feel your best self. It is perfect for 20-somethings since it’s affordable & customizable to your skin. You learn through trial and error, of course, but once you nail it, there is no going back! It is great for pampering yourself on your self-care days. It is always a good idea! You can do it in the morning, at night, or with a friend. I will share my step-by-step guide on how to have the best at-home facial and what tools I use. Prepping your skin You need to cleanse your skin first. Whether you are just getting up or getting ready for bed, you should always wash your face before starting your at-home facial. It will help remove dirt, oil, or makeup. It is a perfect way to set the stage for better product absorption. I will share everything I use and the order in which I cleanse my skin. Make Up Remover : Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Face Cleansing Oil $ 22 Target.com Cleanser : Good Molecules Hydrating Facial Cleansing Gel $12 Ulta.com You can even go an extra step to double cleanse if you wore makeup as well. Facial Steam I invested in a facial steamer during COVID, and it was one of the best investments I made for my skin. I bought one from Amazon, always keep it clean, and store it in a proper place as well. The benefits of steaming are opening up the pores, softening the skin, and allowing deeper penetration of skincare products. I usually steam for however long it takes to run out of the water I put in, but typically 10-15 minutes is ideal. If you don’t want to invest in one, you can always DIY by boiling a pot of water on the stove and putting a cloth over you so you can trap the steam to your face. Facial Steamer : Microderm GLO Facial Steamer SPA $ 55 Amazon.com Exfoliate Exfoliation is important because it removes dead skin cells, brightens the complexion, and prevents clogged pores. You can use either a physical exfoliant like a scrub or a chemical exfoliant like AHA or BHA. Either one works; just go based on your skin type and what your skin feels comfortable using. I specifically use a chemical exfoliant, only once a week since it is strong for my skin. You should really only exfoliate once or twice a week so you don’t strip your skin too much. Exfoliate : The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Exfoliating Peeling Solution $ 10 Sephora.com Face Mask: There are all different kinds of face masks for all types of skin or whatever you want to achieve that day. There are clay masks for oily skin, hydrating masks for dry skin, and brightening masks for dull skin. I love using a hydrating face mask to keep my skin looking fresh and plumped. It is always good to apply an even layer, bring it down to your neck, and leave it on for 10-20 minutes. You can either treat yourself to buying a face mask or you can always DIY a face mask for yourself. 5. Face Mask : Farmacy Honey Potion Plus Ceramide Hydration Mask $ 45 Sephora.com Toner Toners are good for balancing the skin’s pH, tightening pores, and sometimes helping with hyperpigmentation as well. You would like to apply toner with a cotton pad so it’s not as harsh on the skin and pat it all over your face or certain areas you want to focus on. It truly depends on which toner you like to use and what it specifically targets or focuses on. Toner : Peach Slices Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner $ 14 Ulta.com Serums This would be the perfect time to apply any serums that you like to use, whether it is vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid, or retinol. I usually examine my face to see what it needs; I will decide if I need a serum or not. I usually don’t like to overdo it on products. I view serums as "treat yourself" products because they are an extra step for a targeted skin concern. If you do use serums, always pat them gently onto your skin. Serum : Farmacy 10% Waterless Vitamin C Serum $ 52 Sephora.com Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum $ 6 Ulta.com Moisturizer Lock in all your products with a good moisturizer. It will lock in and keep skin soft and plump. Lightweight gel moisturizers are good for oily skin, and richer creams are good for dry skin. You want to apply moisturizer in an upwards motion and avoid tugging the skin. Moisturizer : La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer with Ceramide and Niacinamide $ 24 Traget.com Optional: Face Oil and Massage I love ending my face mask routine with a hydrating face oil and using a gua sha to help with promoting circulation, reducing puffiness, and boosting relaxation. You always want to go to bed looking like a glazed donut, and a face oil for me always does the trick. You can either use a gua sha, jade roller, or just your fingertips to massage your face. Don’t forget to have clean hands when doing this step. Face Oil : Farmacy Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil $ 50 Sephora.com Gua Sha : Sacheu Stainless Steel Non-Porous Gua Sha $ 32 Ulta.com Here is my step-by-step guide on my at-home facial routine. You can always add steps, buy tools & products to really do it all at home. Try to pamper yourself by making at-home facials a regular part of your weekly skincare routine. It will be totally worth it! I would love to hear what extra steps or tools you use for your own personal at-home facial routine. Product recommendations are also always welcome! • Self-Love is Self-Care

Self-love and self-care go hand in hand. The relationship you have with yourself is the most important one you will ever have in your 20s and in life. This decade of our lives already comes with its own challenges, such as figuring out career, love, friendships, and personal growth, along with the highs and lows of navigating uncertainties and setbacks. So, it is crucial that during this formative time in your life, you dedicate it to loving yourself, practicing healthy habits, and personal growth. I am always happy to help in any way possible with tips, why it matters, and the long-term benefits. Why Self-Love Matters, Especially Now Although this might be the hardest time to practice self-love or feel good about yourself, it will be totally worth it now rather than later. We are all still sponges absorbing so much information, good or bad, so why not focus on the good habits to cultivate now? The earlier you start, the better. Remind yourself to be patient and give yourself grace during this time because we are all trying to practice self-love the best way we can. Self-love impacts your emotional well-being, decision-making, and relationships. How you feel about yourself will affect everything around you. When you put loving yourself first, it will also help with understanding not to take things personally. You will create emotional resilience. Tips for Cultivating Self-Love in Your 20s Practice self-compassion: Learn not to be so hard on yourself and speak kindly to yourself. When you are feeling down, remind yourself that you are doing the best you can. Obviously, it's easier said than done, but just try to say one nice thing about yourself out loud every day. It will manifest, I promise. Celebrate wins: No matter how big or small, a win is a win. Self-love grows through gratitude. Always be grateful for any win in your life. Set healthy boundaries: Setting healthy boundaries for yourself will protect you mentally and emotionally. Choose relationships that will uplift you and prioritize your well-being. Pick people in your life who will choose you too. Nourish your soul: Do little things that make you happy daily. Anything that will make you smile, like taking a walk outside, going without your phone for an hour, cooking your favorite meal, or doing your favorite activity. Practice Mindfulness: Learn to be present with yourself and comfortable with yourself. Sit with your thoughts, feel through your emotions, ask yourself questions, and truly get to know yourself better and deeper. A Reminder to Be Kind to Yourself Some people might make you believe that self-love/self-care is easy, but in reality, it's not. It is hard to pull yourself out of a rut when you feel overwhelmed, stressed, or just burnt out. I am here to remind you it is okay to feel those feelings as well. It is part of being human. When self-care feels challenging or you can't bring yourself to do any of the tips, just take 3 minutes to take nice and slow deep breaths or simply rest to calm your body. I always feel like my mind is going a million miles a minute, but my husband taught me to take slow deep breaths, and it truly helps me regulate my body and pause my mind. You will have off days, so just continue to give yourself grace while practicing self-love. The importance of self-love is that it will be the foundation for yourself and your relationship with others. It will be the groundwork for stronger relationships, a healthier mindset, and greater success in the future. Taking small steps daily will help you grow that self-love within. Remember to be patient with yourself; it isn't a race. Every journey will look different from yours, so take your time. As long as you continue, you are already going in the right direction. It will help you become the most confident and best version of yourself. Practice self-love even when it's hard; it will have great long-term benefits for years to come. I would love for you all to share your own self-love tips and experiences. It will not only help me but others as well.

  • Sunday Reset

Sundays are my nonnegotiable day. One of my main boundaries is dedicating Sundays to myself and self-care. Sundays are my reset and recharge days. I work out, meal prep for the week, clean my home, and focus on self-care. It is so crucial to dedicate time for yourself, especially as young adults balancing busy work and life schedules. Setting the tone for your Sunday sets you up for success. We often dedicate whole days to others, such as going out, attending parties, or spending time with family. Having one day each week to focus on your duties and needs at your own pace is so rewarding. Don’t forget to give yourself grace if not every Sunday is perfect, or if you feel like you didn’t accomplish a lot. You are doing the best you can. As long as you prioritize yourself, that’s all that matters. Morning: Setting the Tone I start by getting into a cute workout set and doing my morning skincare routine. I head to the kitchen to take my detox juices, vitamins, and pre-workout. Then, I set up my room for my workout. I make sure all my equipment is laid out in front of me so I have a good workout flow. After my workout, I follow up with a shower. I love setting the tone by getting my workout and shower in early to boost my mood and energy for the day. After that, I make myself a high-protein breakfast to start the day off right. Afternoon: Set Up for Success After breakfast, I make a list for Trader Joe’s of what I need to meal prep for the week, as well as what my husband needs. I usually hurry home from Trader Joe’s and start meal prepping. I love setting myself up for success for the week by meal prepping—it’s not only time-saving but also cost-effective. After cooking, I clean my space by sweeping, mopping, and wiping down all surfaces. This is also the time when I tackle any cleaning projects, like organizing my closet, cleaning my shoes, or tidying up my desk. Cleaning my space helps me feel mentally and physically clear as well. Evening: Reset & Renewal As the night slowly approaches, I make sure to pick out my work outfit to make my morning easier. I pack my work lunch with all the snacks and vitamins I’ll need. I take my magnesium at night and make myself some calming tea to help my body unwind. Sundays are also the days I love to do my at-home facial. I follow my night skincare routine, do a facial steam, and apply a mask depending on what my skin needs that week. I make sure my room lights are dimmed, and my candles are on. I truly believe in the power of setting the tone for your night in your room. Prioritizing Sundays for self-care and for weekly success will make you feel 100% better about your upcoming week. It will also help you navigate whatever life throws at you during your week or if you want to spontaneously go out throughout the week with no worries. Create your own Sunday routine that works best for you and your goals for the week. I would love for you to share your own Sunday routine and your thoughts on the importance of the day for yourself.

  • Navigating Friendships

Friendships are like your family. In your 20s, when you're doing so much growing and learning, your friends can be a huge support during this time. While maintaining friendships in your 20s can be challenging, it’s really important to nurture those meaningful connections. Many people think friendships don’t require effort, but they actually take a lot of work and attention, just like any relationship. The upside is that, with the right care, these friendships can grow into lifelong bonds that you'll cherish forever. What makes a true friend? A true friend embodies key qualities like trust, support, honesty, and mutual respect. While friends may be different in some ways, they should share similar values and interests. Your friends are a reflection of you, and they should dream as big as you do, no matter what those dreams may be. Loyalty and honesty are crucial in any friendship. It’s important to be open about who you are and to set boundaries when needed. A true friend will stand by you through both the tough times and the moments of celebration. As you grow, you may find yourself outgrowing certain friendships or recognizing when a connection no longer serves you. When a friendship feels overwhelmingly negative or one-sided, it’s usually a major red flag. Open communication is key in these situations—having an honest conversation can help you understand each other better and may reveal things you wouldn’t have realized otherwise. Remember, people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. It’s up to you to decide who those people are. That said, it's also important to make new connections as you move through different phases of life, especially as your interests and priorities evolve. Making New Friends Making new friends in your 20s can feel nerve-wracking, especially since many of your earlier friendships may have formed through school, sports, or clubs. As you grow, your interests change, you're exploring different career paths, and you're figuring out what you want your future to look like. It's important to build a circle of friends who align with where you’re headed and who you can truly be yourself around. Some tips for meeting new people include putting yourself out there—attend events, invite others to hang out, and try taking classes. And as you build new friendships, it's crucial to focus on the quality of connections rather than the quantity You should surround yourself with friends who uplift and inspire you. Friendships play a huge role in your mental and emotional well-being, so remember: quality over quantity. I’d much rather have a few deep connections than many surface-level ones. Having positive influences in your life can really shift your perspective, hold you accountable, and create a strong support system you can rely on. As your circle of friends grows, so does the need to nurture your existing relationships, especially as life gets busier and more complex. Maintaining Old Friendships One of the biggest challenges in friendships is managing distance and time. As you both live your own lives—juggling relationships, work, family, and other responsibilities—life will keep evolving. Changes in jobs, relationships, and priorities are inevitable. It’s important to stay connected, whether through weekly phone calls, or monthly hangouts, depending on your schedules. No matter how busy life gets, maintain open and honest communication about what’s going on. If life gets in the way and you can't keep in touch as often, understand that it’s okay, and your true friends will still be there for you. Personally, I prefer one-on-one time with friends over group settings, especially since not all friends know each other. I also love spending quality time and catching up with them. But the key is balancing your new and old friendships. If these people are important to you, you’ll make time for them. Friendships evolve, but the foundation of trust, care, and effort remains the same. Dealing with Conflict in Friendships Conflict with a friend can sometimes be uncomfortable or awkward, but addressing issues openly and honestly—especially in private—is always the best approach. It’s crucial to have empathy and truly listen to your friend’s feelings and needs. Try to identify the root cause of the conflict and focus on finding a solution. Misunderstandings can often happen, particularly when life paths start to differ, so remember that everyone is just trying to figure things out while balancing the amazing people in their lives. Empathy goes a long way in maintaining strong, healthy friendships. And just like in any relationship, the way you communicate and resolve conflict will help strengthen the bond over time. Friendships are a sisterhood, and everyone deserves to have people in their corner. It’s important to prioritize meaningful connections in your life—they are so rewarding. Remember, just like friendships are extensions of your family, the people you connect with now can be the ones who stand by you for a lifetime. So cherish them, nurture them, and always make time for those who uplift you. Girls need to support each other, and if you ever feel like you don’t have someone, please know you can always reach out to me. I created this platform and this blog to bring people together, so don’t hesitate to message me. I’m here for you.

  • Mastering the Kitchen in your 20s

Mastering the kitchen is essential in your 20s. It can sometimes feel intimidating or seem like something you should learn when you’re older, but building this habit now can be truly life-changing. Learning to cook is vital because it helps you take care of your body and yourself, both physically and mentally. It also provides a sense of independence, allowing you not to rely on restaurants, Uber Eats, or others to feed you. Plus, cooking brings creativity into your life, letting you create dishes you truly love that cater to your preferences. The added bonus is budget-friendly living; cooking at home saves you a lot of money compared to eating out, and you almost always make more than just a single serving, which can lead to leftovers. Cooking is an essential life skill, and that’s why it matters in your 20s. To get started on your cooking journey, you’ll need some basic kitchen equipment if you don’t already have it. I’ll break down the essential equipment into different categories. For cutting, you’ll need a good knife set, wooden cutting boards, kitchen scissors, a cheese grater, and a peeler. For measuring, make sure to have measuring spoons and cups, as well as a small scale. For draining or separating, it’s helpful to have two strainers—one metal and one mesh. For mixing and spreading, invest in good wooden or silicone spoons, a spatula, a slotted spoon, and a whisk. You’ll also need mixing bowls, pots and pans, and baking sheets. As for electronics, you can gradually invest in items like a blender, toaster, kettle, and air fryer. These are just some of the equipment you’ll need to get a solid start in your kitchen. Now that we went over the equipment needed for the kitchen. Let’s talk pantry. Your pantry stores the building blocks for meals like grains, spices, and canned goods. A lot of beginner friendly meals come from the pantry such as pastas, soups, rice, and beans. You also store the essential oils, vinegars, and condiments. Stocking up on a variety of snacks is always a good idea. With a well-stocked pantry, you’ll have the foundation for quick and easy meals! As you get more comfortable, building your confidence in the kitchen is key. Tips for doing this include setting the vibe and tone: play your favorite songs, remember that lighting is everything, and keep all your ingredients and equipment close by. When I’m learning something new, I like to play a YouTube video while I cook. If I’m meal prepping for the week, I find it helpful to have all my veggies and fruits pre-cut and ready to go. I encourage everyone to start by learning the basics and staples in dishes first, then move on to understanding how to cook different proteins, and finally dive into specific recipes. Mastering the basics is crucial. Once you building the confidence, you can try new things and invite people to share with what you learned. It’s important to try new ingredients and techniques without the fear of failure. I’ve had my fair share of kitchen mistakes, but I’m grateful for the lessons I’ve learned from them. Always challenge yourself! Cooking can also be a great social activity with friends or your partner; it’s more enjoyable, and you’ll have more helpers. You can make theme nights and have everyone bring in something to share. Ultimately, the benefits of learning to cook in your 20s are incredibly important. It’s a blessing to know how to feed yourself without relying on anyone else. These skills will stay with you for the rest of your life. Not only will you be able to feed yourself, but someday you’ll be able to cook for your future family as well. One thing I’ve learned while cooking for myself is how challenging it can be to order out sometimes because I know I can either make it better or prepare more of it. Mastering the kitchen in your 20s can be one of the most life-changing things you do for yourself, both physically and mentally.

  • Go-To Work Makeup Look

I work in an office setting, so my go-to work makeup look has to be clean and professional. Many people either have work guidelines or can express themselves freely. I don’t have strict guidelines at work, but since it is a law firm, I try my best to look as professional as possible.I love that I can choose different outfits throughout the week, whether it’s heels or sneakers, depending on my mood. Regardless, it’s important to feel and look confident at work. Making it a habit to look and feel your best can make a difference throughout your entire day. My makeup approach for a professional setting is clean and simple. I prefer a buildable skin tint, great coverage concealer, and a bit of blush to add color to my face. Paired with my favorite lip liner and lip gloss, I’m good to go. Don’t forget to balance professionalism with personal style—mix up your lip combo, try a different blush color, or play with a neutral eyeshadow palette. My Step-by-Step Go-To Work Makeup Look Base: I use the Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir Foundation. This skin tint is lightweight and breathable, and it’s buildable if you need extra coverage. It’s also Yuka-approved. For concealer, I reach for the Kosas Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer with Caffeine and Hyaluronic Acid. Its creamy formula provides great coverage and really brightens my under-eyes. It’s also approved on Yuka. Eyes: I use the Morphe Micro Brow Dual-Ended Pencil & Spoolie in the shade Latte. Sadly, this isn’t Yuka-approved, so I’m still on the hunt for a new eyebrow pencil. However, this has been my go-to for a long time. I vary whether I wear mascara, but one thing is for sure: I always curl my eyelashes. When I do wear mascara to work, I use ILIA Limitless Lash Lengthening Clean Mascara. It’s Yuka-approved and features an easy-to-use brush applicator. Cheeks & Lips: I apply Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the shade Hope. It’s the perfect shade for a natural pink look. I love all of Rare Beauty’s blushes; their formula is amazing and very blendable. Plus, they’re Yuka-approved. I mix up different lip liners and glosses all the time. My favorites are Rare Beauty lip liners, MAC lip liner pencils, and Charlotte Tilbury lip liners. I also have too many lip glosses, but my top two are the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss and NYX Butter Gloss Non-Sticky Lip Gloss. Both offer a wide range of shades to choose from. Tips for Long-Lasting Wear Tips for keeping your makeup on all day include using a good setting spray and making sure your base is fully moisturized and primed. I also like to keep a mini version of the Kosas concealer for touch-ups throughout the day, along with lip liner and lip gloss always on hand. That is my go-to work makeup tips and products, you can effortlessly achieve a professional look that suits your style—stay tuned for more insights and tips in The 20 Something Handbook!

  • Journal Prompt Practice

Journaling is incredibly therapeutic for me, as it is for many others. I usually don’t journal every day about what I did or how I felt on that specific day; instead, I have a different journaling philosophy. Each morning, I take 30 minutes to ask myself a question. I believe in the importance of self-reflection—looking back at the past, understanding how it made me feel, and recognizing what has changed since then. It is important to reflect in order to move past experiences and handle things differently in the future. Here’s my journal prompt routine: I start with my morning tea, either ginger, spearmint, or green tea. I use a specific journal just for writing my prompts and make sure to have two different colored pens—one color for the question and another for my response. I always date each journal entry. I often turn to Pinterest for question inspiration. Examples of questions I choose are: What have I outgrown this year? What makes me happiest? , and What is standing between me and my goals, and how can I fix that? I don’t journal traditionally because emotions can come and go in an instant. I prefer to reflect and let my emotions simmer down before truly considering why I felt or acted a certain way; this helps me sort through my feelings. Daily questions help in understanding my emotions and how they come to play in our daily life. The benefits of this practice for mental health include releasing emotions, tracking progress, and cultivating self-compassion. I encourage you to try this practice of journaling at any time of day and see how you feel afterward. It’s important to set aside time for yourself and focus on your own self-discovery. Please share your own questions as well!
